About the Organisation
Christine Revell Children’s Home (CRCH) cares for 49 abandoned, abused, orphaned and neglected children from ages birth to five years old, irrispective of their race, religion and HIV status. Full-time (24/7) care is given with the help of 27 staff members, including a director, social worker, child-care-workers, administrative and domestic staff. The future of each is carefully considered with the help of social workers, family members and parents. As registered child-care centre, CRCH receives a limited subsidy per child from the Department of Social Development. The priority is to act in the best interest of every child.
- Social & Community Development
- Volunteer Programme
Individuals/groups have commit themselves to help on a regular basis. Volunteers, churches and schools undertake and support special projects at the children's home.
- Hosting Programme
Focus is on reinitegrating children into a family or community with our weekend and holiday hosting prorgamme. Families/individuals must be screened for this programme.
- Educare Programme
Children from the age of 18 months attend the creche at the children's home under the guidance of qualified ECD staff members.
- Basic Medical Programme
We work closely with Red Cross Hospital, the Day hospital and clincs in our area to see to the medical needs of each child in our care.
- Income Generating Projects
- We have bi-monthlysales of donated items to the community to provide much needed income. - Our Annual Bazaar and Dance generate income and donations and support for these events are greatly appreciated.
- Individual and Group Sessions
Children who indicate behavioural and developmental problems receive specialised attention.
