Andre Lotter is one of South Africa’s most loved soapie actors. He matriculated in 2002 at Hoërskool Goudrif where his love was acting started. This later became his career, despite first planning a career as a professional rugby player.
He studied N.Dip Drama at Tshwane University of Technology, where he played in a series of theatre plays which also made the rounds to various festivals like Aardklop and Grahamstown National Arts Festival.
Upon completion of his studies, he engulfed himself in the theatre industry, and found himself on stages of well-known theatres like The Mark Theater, Artscape, The Baxter Theater, Theater on the Bay and also the Pieter Toerien Theater. He also turns to many festivals such as KKNK, Innibos, Grahamstown and Vryfees where he plays and directs with legends such as Tobie Cronje and Andre Odendaal.
Making his TV debut was inevitable and was seen in series like Paris Paris, Sterlopers, the movie As Jy Sing, and soap operas like Binnelanders and the most famous Villa Rosa where he received an award at The Royalty Soapy Awards for Best Male Villain on soap opera for his interpretation of Liam le Roux.
After Villa Rosa Andre has his first lead role played in a big screen movie, alongside the talented Marissa Drummond. The film was featured in countries such as Spain. The most recent role Andre is known for is in 7 de laan as Rikus Wellman.
When he is not in front of the camera, Andre is very busy with his Crossfit to stay fit and healthy. Some exciting future projects include his own theatre production and the script development for a movie.
