Freek Robinson is a TV journalist with more than 40 years experience. He held various positions such as political reporter, current affairs producer, current affairs executive producer, head of current affairs in the parliamentary team of the SABC, political correspondent and European correspondent based in London.
After three years in London he returned as executive producer and anchor of a new TV current affairs programme, Agenda.
In the run-up to the first democratic elections in 1994 he facilitated several live broadcasts countrywide and chaired the Mandela/De Klerk debate. In 1995 he became executive producer and anchor of a new current affairs
programme Focus. He was later appointed as the talk show host of a radio current affairs programme on RSG.
In 2010 he was appointed anchor of a new current affairs programme “Robinson Regstreeks” (Robinson Live) on the satellite channel, kykNET. Later in 2010 he also became the main anchor of the nightly Afrikaans News delivered by eTV on the satellite channel platform, kykNET.
Freek also has his own communications company focussing on training business executives in media skills – in particular how to handle TV and radio interviews to deliver a message effectively. Recent clients include Mastercard , Sage and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. He also chairs conference
sessions and public debates. The most recent was the two day bi-annual summit of the Citrus Growers’ Association of Southern Africa (March 2019).
